Volunteer Opportunities

Thank you for your interest in joining our valuable team of volunteers, who are an integral part of our program, helping us advance the educational opportunities of immigrant families living in South Santa Clara County.

We appreciate our volunteers!

Volunteers are an integral component of our organization, assisting us with our educational programs in endless ways. Volunteers choose to donate a range of services. We are grateful to the dozens of people each year who join our team and use their skills to support our mission of education.

If you would like to volunteer, please contact us via phone at 408-776-1196 or email us.

Thank you again for your interest in volunteering at the Learning and Loving Education Center!

English Tutor:

Literacy is related to poverty, unemployment, and homelessness. The most common way for volunteers to get involved is as a tutor in the English literacy part of our program. Tutoring is a very rewarding experience. As a tutor, you will help someone improve their life.

Computer Lab Assistant:

The digital divide continues to grow for the immigrant population who lack access to computer technology. Work with our computer teacher to assist students with their technology training and narrow the gap of the digital divide.

Language Lab Tutor:

Assist our students in improving their English language skills by volunteering in our computerized language lab where students practice hearing, seeing, and speaking their new language.

Early Childhood Education Aide:

Work with underserved children ages 0-5 years to nurture pre-literacy and kindergarten readiness skills. This opportunity can involve reading to the children, guiding arts & craft projects, and helping children use the computers and preschool software.

Advisory Board Member:

Volunteer to provide expertise, ideas, and support to our programs leadership team while participating in publicity and fundraising efforts.

Fundraising Volunteer:

Work with other volunteers to design, implement, and support our organization's fundraising efforts. This can involve researching corporate sponsors or behind the scenes assisting with an annual appeal.

Web Developer:

This opportunity is involved with assisting in updating existing web pages.

Development Assistant:

Support organizational development efforts by researching potential funders, corporate sponsors, and avenues concerning marketing and public relations efforts.

Office Support:

Assist with the folding, stamping and distribution of our biannual newsletter.

Research Assistant:

A volunteer is needed to research internet information and statistics relating to low literate populations who face obstacles to education, technology, health care, and early childhood education. This information will help our grant writer leverage funding to support our work.
